With school underway for a new year, our kids will have plenty of opportunities to learn about resilience. Resilience (of the kind I’m speaking) has to do with being able to spring back from difficulty. The difficulty may be not making the team; or being excluded from a lunch table you’d like to join; or doing poorly on an important exam; or not measuring up to an adult’s expectation; or being falsely accused; or not receiving an invitation to homecoming. By the way, although the picture here features a young child, as parents we know that Life continues to call on our kids for resilience long past childhood.
The blog linked below speaks so articulately to the issue that I encourage you to take a look. I think you’ll find it helpful not only for your kids but for yourself as well.
